THIS POSITION IS INTENDED TO BE FULL-TIME DURING THE SUMMER, HOWEVER, MAY CONSIDER BRINGING ON IN SPRING ON A PART-TIME BASIS (MINIMUM OF 20 HOURS PER WEEK.)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform transportation planning and related tasks in support of traffic simulation and capacity analyses, development or assist in the development of traffic forecasts from regional travel demand models, evaluate multimodal transportation systems
  • Provide detailed and summary results in graphics, reports, and presentations
  • Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for a variety of transportation projects
  • Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex microsimulation models; analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate civil or transportation engineering program (or a closely related field)
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer 2 years completed toward a degree with a 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to the field of study/industry such as Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, AIMSUM, VISSIM, CUBE, VISUM, and MicroStation
  • Preference is given to local candidates
