Summary:

The UI/UX Designer position conceives, creates, and refines complex interactions for web-based education and content management products. This position will work closely with Solutions Managers, Business Analysts, Stakeholders, Engineers, and other Designers to translate key business strategies, user needs and technical requirements into sound design concepts.

Responsibilities:

  • The UI/UX Designer will work across a variety of products and cross-functional teams ensuring quality and unity within our product ecosystem.
  • Take ownership over large, complex projects while maintaining consistency and collaboration across our product ecosystem
  • Contribute at every stage of the design process from ideation and research to prototyping and testing to polished designs and iteration
  • Deliver developer-ready design mocks, low-fi mocks, wireframes, and other UX artifacts for responsive web applications
  • Advocate for usability, accessibility standards and inclusive design best practices
  • Conduct research and critical analysis on existing products and processes to unearth and prioritize opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Work with Solutions Managers, Business Analysts, and Stake Holders to synthesize key business goals, feedback, metrics, and customer requests into actionable items
  • Participate in big-picture planning and ideation as well as work refinement
  • Meet with Engineers and Subject Matter Experts to develop a deep understanding of technical feasibility and user needs
  • Help establish, implement, maintain and document a unified Design System across products
  • Provide and receive thoughtful, actionable feedback to and from other Designers

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in User Experience, User Research or Digital Design
  • Experience designing web applications
  • Experience with UI/UX tools like Figma or Sketch
  • Worked in Agile environments and proficient with project management software such as Jira or Asana
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products (or other office suite products)
  • Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills. Ability to parse ideas, research, and design constraints to move conversations forward and determine the best solution
  • Ability to perform efficiently and effectively with minimal oversight
  • Excellent presentation, communication, organization, and leadership skills

  • Passionate about the future of Education
  • Experience within Education, Publishing, or Media
  • Experience creating or implementing Design systems, or familiarity with design system concepts
  • Familiarity with front end development concepts and frameworks
  • Knowledge in native application design for iOS, Android, or desktop apps
  • Experience working in a distributed team across time zones and regions
