Job Description

At Bungie, we take pride in how Test helps deliver amazing experiences to our players. We accomplish this by fostering a collaborative but critical environment where QA has an equal seat at the table alongside all of the other development disciplines. As an Associate Tester, you will work with cross-discipline peers throughout all phases of development in order to shine a bright light on risks at the earliest possible moment, as well as highlight potential healthy paths forward. You will work alongside your teammates and lead to craft an in-depth understanding of our engine, tools, features, and production pipeline to create effective test strategies and mitigation plans that will improve the value delivered to our players and keep our teams lean, flexible, and healthy.

As an Associate Tester joining our efforts early in development, you will be working with your team to prepare and execute the testing for your various shipping features. Associate Testers are on the front line of test coverage and will become experts in the various test methodologies at Bungie. You will use that expertise to help us establish best practices and identify future risks for your incubation project's features. Associate Testers are able to leverage their knowledge of test approaches and game systems to pursue value, identify risks, and work with their team to help iterate on tools and process improvements. Our unannounced project teams are dedicated to developing in a sustainable and healthy way; you will be a critical part of helping them realize that vision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing and executing tests at the various stages of development, including but not limited to test passes, ad-hoc testing, exploratory testing, validating user story acceptance criteria, playtests, and regression testing
  • Learning the workflows and tools used by your small team, taking time to provide feedback on how the team could improve on approaches based on your day-to-day exposure to them
  • Deep diving into content pipelines when investigating an issue in order to pinpoint the root cause and provide a detailed bug to the rest of your team
Identifying gaps in test coverage and working with your team to close those gaps

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent test fundamentals, knowledge, and experience
  • Desire to develop test capabilities with a focus on white box and test efficiency improvements
  • Inclusive, positive communication
  • Collaboration with teammates to seek guidance when blocked
  • Comfortable embracing ignorance and practicing curiosity on the road to experience
  • Ability to leverage understanding of game systems and content to uncover issues during each stage of development
  • Desire to improve and grow yourself and continually optimize your test approach
  • A "preventative care" mindset

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

  • Familiarity with FPS or Survival games
  • Interest in exploring test feature ownership growth opportunities
  • Degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Game Design, related fields, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to update and execute scripts to support day-to-day workflows with minimal oversight

  • 10 paid Bungie-observed holidays annually
  • One hour of Paid Sick Time (PST) for every 30 hours worked
So you don't meet every requirement listed in this job description? Do you think your experience level is not where it needs to be? Studies show that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they believe they meet every single qualification. Bungie is focused on building a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. If you're interested in this position but your past experience doesn't line up perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we want you to apply anyway. The right role for you may be right around the corner!

Most Bungie full-time employees will adopt a digital first approach allowing remote work in Bungie approved locations (outside of positions identified as 100% onsite in Bellevue/Seattle, or individuals preferring a hybrid/flex environment).
