Job Description
We’re growing quickly, and we’re looking for exceptional people to join us on this incredible journey.Â
We are obsessed with building the most trusted roofing platform in the world so our customers can power their growth with intelligence. Roofr is the all-in-one sales toolbox for roofers, including instant customizable aerial roof measurements with a drone, satellite, or blueprints imagery! In addition, our clients have the ability to immediately create visually stunning, robust and automated proposals that help create a great client experience leading to a higher close rate. Our future roadmap is clear and filled with exciting products such as payment processing, consumer financing, workflow automation, and more!
Our Mission is to ensure every family has access to protect their home with an affordable roof. We have amazing culture, great founders, and strong financials (profitable unit economics, strong revenue growth and best-in-class company metrics - including CAC payback of a few months!!). This is a great opportunity to be a part of an extraordinary start-up that is already successful, yet early enough to offer its team members significant growth, equity, and an opportunity to make an impact.
As the first full-time User Researcher at Roofr, you’ll contribute to our mission by channeling your curiosity, empathy, and ambition to help us build a top-flight qualitative user research practice.
Reporting to the Product Lead, you will own the design and implementation of user research initiatives, working to answer the research questions that you have prioritized in collaboration with product and design. You will also work, with the support of the Product Lead, to build the systems and processes needed for the user research practice to flourish at Roofr over the next several years.
What you get to do:
- You will support two product development teams with a third soon to follow. You will be joining a team of product and design professionals who have significant experience in and a deep love for user research, but who recognize that to truly do it well is a full-time job
- Build sustainable and direct customer relationships through email and phone outreach
- Identify and prioritize key research questions in collaboration with product and design
- Conduct qualitative user research interviews to precisely understand our customers’ current business processes as they relate to the key research questions, as well as to generate new insights and to identify potential new areas for further research
- Dig deeper into customer business processes to explore the reasoning and the motivations behind them; why do our customers do things a certain way? What are they hoping to achieve? What are they hoping to avoid?
- Produce clear, compelling primary documents by transcribing calls and/or by taking extraordinary notesÂ
- Synthesize primary documents into personas, user journeys, mental maps, and/or other forms of written analysis that help answer the research questions
- Help facilitate and/or lead user testing sessions using prototypes created by the product design team
What you bring to the role:
- 2+ years of experience as a user researcher, ideally in B2B
- A strong formal understanding of and appreciation for best practice in social sciences research
- Experience building out systems, processes, and customer relationships to sustain user research initiatives over the long term
Who You Are:
- You are a clear thinker who is able to internalize large amounts of ambiguity without becoming discouraged or intimidated
- You ask carefully worded questions, and when someone does not answer your question you ask it again
- You are comfortable reaching out to people you don’t know, and are unafraid to cold call existing customers in a pinch
- You’re obsessed with finding out what the answer to a question really is, not what we think it is
- You are fascinated by people and love learning about them
What we offer:
When you join our team, you’re not just accepting a job. You’re making a career move. Here’s how we’ll support you in doing some of the most impactful work of your career:
- Start your journey with Roofr with 1 week of paid vacation
- 1 Friday off per month (we call those our laundry days!)
- Flextime, recognition, and support for autonomous work: Flexible time off with ample learning and development opportunities to continue growing your career
- Competitive compensation and equity
- Remote-first culture with home office set-up & internet reimbursement
- Holistic health benefits from day 1;and wellness benefits: Company-paid medical, dental, and vision
- Monthly coworking space reimbursement
- Even if we are remote, we still manage to host 2 killer retreats per year and great team building activities!
At Roofr, we celebrate individuality and uniqueness. Roofr is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building an organization that empowers inclusion and diversity. We encourage candidates and employees to be true to themselves and express all aspects of their identities. We believe that the convergence of fresh perspectives and experiences from all walks of life is what makes our product and culture so great. We do not discriminate against employees based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity or expression, age, disability, pregnancy (including childbirth, breastfeeding, or related medical condition), genetic information, protected military or veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local laws.
