If you become a Splunker, we want your whole, authentic self, what we call your "million data points". So bring your work experience, problem-solving skills and talent, of course, but also bring your joy, your passion and all the things that make you, you.

Role Summary

Splunk is seeking a UX Intern to join our Web Marketing team. A great candidate would be a student enrolled in an HCI, Psychology, UX or relevant major, who is passionate about the various aspects of User Experience or User Interface Design and relevant methodologies. You will have the outstanding opportunity of joining the UX team and working with senior level professionals to learn and collaborate on designing user experiences.

This position will report into the Sr Director, Head of Web Marketing.

At Splunk, you get your chance to put your ideas into action in a fast paced environment. Intern responsibilities will include the following (based on skills and interest):

  • Create wireframes for various page templates for the website
  • Develop user flows to help articulate screen flows and system requirements
  • Build out user scenarios and identify key personas (creating personas may be applicable)
  • Support end user research including usability testing, competitive analysis, customer interviews, behavioral insights and metrics analysis to inform designs
  • Assimilate and report out on analytics
  • Support UX activities in Design Sprints
  • Help produce UX guidelines for the web style guide
  • Create user interface prototypes when necessary
  • Help support Customer Journey mapping activities including documenting outputs and flows
  • Collaborate with team members on UX outputs and designs
  • Present and communicate designs to peers and executives
  • Optimally communicate the user centered design process

Must-have Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Masters Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related technical field, and strong record of academic achievement.
  • At least one semester/quarter remaining to complete after the internship.
  • Available to work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

We've taken special care to separate the must-have qualifications from the nice-to-haves. "Nice-to-have" means just that: Nice. To. Have. So, don't worry if you can't check off every box. We're not hiring a list of bullet points-we're interested in the whole you.

  • Must be proficient in Figma, or other wireframing tools.
  • Have some understanding of current web technologies HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript
  • Interested in the latest web technologies and user experience methodologies
  • Familiarity with analytic tools such as Google Analytics and Mouseflow
  • Background knowledge or curiosity about Usability Testing and User Centered Design
  • Examples of work via a portfolio is required (please send in PDF or URL)

Our Splunktern Program allows incoming interns the flexibility to choose from three start dates, currently anticipated to be:

  • Monday, May 20, 2024
  • Monday, June 3, 2024
  • Monday, June 17, 2024
