UX Writer/Content Designer - Intermediate Level

Purpose of Job
We are seeking a talented UX Writer/Content Designer - Intermediate Level for our San Antonio Home Office I facility. This position may also have the option of working Hybrid.

As a member of the Digital Content Team, you'll use your UX writing/content design skills to help create exceptional digital experiences for our members, prospects, and member service representatives. Using member research, competitive analysis, content strategy and content design principles, you'll collaborate with subject matter experts and other disciplines from across USAA to identify and craft content solutions to drive results. A Digital Content Manager II develops content, while evolving skills. Has a beginner's level understanding of project-level content strategy. Has a moderate understanding of Search Engine Optimization and provides required Search Engine Optimization material for projects. Output requires moderate to heavy editing. Collaborates effectively with business partners and stakeholders on projects. Works with more experienced team members to leverage learnings from testing and existing KPIs to develop content. Continuously leverages basic data-driven problem-solving techniques and analytical rigor to help identify KPIs for content within each project. Acquires, maintains and applies a developing knowledge of the business, its products and processes, and has a moderate understanding of writing quality.

Tasks

• Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
• Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
• Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
• Researches and identifies industry best practices to increase content effectiveness.
• Creates increasingly effective content at a moderate skill level that may need moderate to heavy line editing.
• Recommends prioritization of own projects to lead for workload balancing.
• Creates satisfactory Search Engine Optimization research and information.
• Works to develop understanding of voice, brand, POVs, cadence, writing to specific reading levels, AP and USAA style, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and the importance of cogency.
• Takes editing well, works with the editor to make informed, collaborative decisions, and will rewrite/rework as necessary.
• Prepares supporting data and detailed materials for presentations to inform and influence key stakeholders.

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelor's degree: OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

• 2 years of experience in professional content creation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage content creation in a matrixed environment across multiple platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze member and storefront data to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to provide innovative approaches to channel strategy and processes.

Preferred experience:

• User experience writing or content design experience
• Very familiar with SEO, AP style and aligning content to standards, tone, etc.
• Experience with content creation processes and collaborating with subject matter experts and design teams
• UX writing or content design certification is a plus
• Portfolio required

Compensation:

USAA has an effective method for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this skill is: $51,700.00 - $93,200.00*

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

Shift premium: will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
