Job Description
F&G is hiring for a VP, Chief Audit Executive. This role will lead the risk control and audit strategy of the company. This position will oversee and help communicate recommendations to improve risk mitigation strategies and/or to strengthen the design and execution of controls. This position will interact with all levels of management and act as subject matter lead in matters of assessing risk and promoting sound internal control and audit methodology.
The VP, Chief Audit Executive will report to the EVP, CFO and direct a team of 15-20 staff. This position will operate in a matrix environment and collaborate with various departments across the Company including Financial Reporting, Actuarial, IT/Operations and Investment Accounting.
Responsibilities
- Lead the risk control and audit strategy of the company. Set the overall strategy of the department and the execution of the annual internal audit plan. Develop strategies and tactics to drive efficiencies and predictability in management’s assessment of internal controls and testing by internal and external auditors
- Lead the team to develop and enforce consistent standards of practice for risk evaluation, control design and execution
- Provide internal control and audit expertise and consultation to key functional areas and projects. Develop a client service model and team to drive active collaboration with and engagement by functional teams
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with CRO and other senior management throughout the company.
- Support and coordinate with the Risk team in the review and evaluation of operational risks and controls
- Communicate openly with the Internal Audit leadership and Senior Leadership within the organization about potential areas of risk, assign and assess risk factors, and recommend appropriate next steps/considerations.
- Provide support to Senior Leadership over advanced risk topics and Annuity/Life operations.; utilize advance communication skills to align the understanding of key stakeholders
- Direct the successful execution of the audit process including the planning, scheduling, coordinating, reviewing and reporting of the work of the audit team
- Provide advanced expertise in auditing standards/requirements, and performance criteria; ensure a complete understanding of all aspects of each audit engagement
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Master’s degree preferred
- 10-15 years of progressive audit or internal controls experience, preferably in public accounting or a combination of public accounting and industry experience
- CPA or CIA preferred
- Experience building, leading, motivating and developing teams
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Thorough understanding and demonstrated experience with the COSO framework
- Comprehensive knowledge of auditing practices and procedures
- Highly motivated and demonstrated ability to take initiative
- Strong understanding of business process and risk
- Ability to influence in absence of formal reporting relationships and inspire confidence throughout the organization
- Strong Analytical and Intuitive skills
- Ability to think ahead and conduct strategic planning
- Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

- Must be able to sit for extended period of time while utilizing a computer or multiple computer monitors
- This position may require some amount of travel within the U.S.
