This senior leadership role sits at the heart of transforming how clinical trials are designed, delivered, and scaled across the UK and Europe. You will oversee end-to-end clinical operations, ensuring trials are executed with speed, quality, and regulatory compliance while actively shaping the future of tech-enabled research delivery. Acting as the most senior ClinOps leader in the region, you will guide large teams, drive operational excellence, and embed AI-driven workflows into everyday trial execution. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on problem solving across a fast-growing, mission-driven environment. You will collaborate closely with global clinical operations leadership, product, and commercial teams to evolve both processes and platform capabilities. This is a high-impact position for someone who thrives in building, scaling, and innovating within clinical research at pace.
Accountabilities
You will be responsible for leading regional clinical operations, scaling teams, and driving innovation in clinical trial execution:
- Lead UK & EU clinical operations, ensuring successful delivery of trials on time, within budget, and in full compliance with regulatory standards.
- Oversee a diverse portfolio of clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas, phases, and study designs, including tech-enabled and AI-supported studies.
- Build, scale, and mentor high-performing clinical operations teams, including trial managers, project managers, and quality/regulatory specialists.
- Develop and refine SOPs, systems, and operational frameworks to ensure efficient and scalable study execution.
- Drive implementation of AI tools and digital workflows to improve trial delivery, oversight, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, commercial, and US clinical operations teams to align global delivery strategy.
- Support business development activities and ensure smooth transition of studies from proposal to execution.
- 12+ years of experience in clinical trials, with direct responsibility for executing and overseeing clinical research projects.
- Proven experience beyond traditional large CRO environments, ideally across varied trial types and innovative study designs.
- Strong exposure to UK and European clinical trial operations, with deep understanding of MHRA and EMA regulatory frameworks.
- Experience working across multiple therapeutic areas and phases, including non-drug or phase IV studies preferred.
- Demonstrated success in building, scaling, and leading high-performing clinical operations teams.
- Strong familiarity with modern clinical trial technologies and enthusiasm for AI-driven workflows and digital transformation.
- High operational ownership, strong decision-making ability, and bias for action in fast-moving environments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills across cross-functional and global teams.
- Strong interest in innovation and improving how clinical research is delivered at scale.
