Mach49 is the Growth Incubator for Global Businesses.

We are 100% focused on execution helping companies Disrupting InsideOut™ and Disrupting OutsideIn™ to drive meaningful, sustainable growth for their companies, their people, their communities, and the world. Together with our clients we….

  • Launch Ventures leveraging the client’s talent, customers, assets, core competencies to ideate, incubate, accelerate and scale disruptive new ventures

  • Do Corporate Venture Investing and Partnering with the discipline embraced by top-tier Venture Capitalists
  • Bring the Silicon Valley Inside building an internal ecosystem equipped to seize the Mothership advantage and beat the startups at their own game.

We are recruiting a full-time VP, Engineering for our client that is currently operating in stealth mode. This client is building the world’s first data and compliance operating system to restore trust and transparency to data use.  Consumers are aware that their data is not protected and often misused. At the same time, businesses can’t keep up with complex compliance laws. This leads to fear and confusion, resource burdens and data silos that inhibit innovation.  Our client is looking to break down these barriers in order to protect consumers and unlock the free flow of data for rapid innovation and newly imagined user experiences.

Our client has received seed funding from one of the most notable names in the technology industry and is looking for a group of initial hires who want to join our team to help us reshape the world of enterprise data.

In this role, you will be an integral part of the C-suite, defining and building strategy, the team, culture, and company-wide direction. You'll own the architecture and will build a team of engineers, so your experience in people development, combined with data engineering experience is paramount.

The Role

  • Drive development of system requirements to create a new enterprise data privacy operating system and help advance technology roadmaps.
  • Develop and grow leadership talent through effective mentoring, coaching, succession planning, and retention strategies for key talent in a fast growth, highly competitive economic environment.
  • Work closely with various organizations internal and external to drive investment strategy, define and execute the long term roadmaps.
  • Build and lead multiple, independent teams capable of scaling through a period of continued high-growth while forging tight partnerships with cross-functional leaders.
  • Work with Sales management to determine proper staffing levels to support annual goals, establish job requisitions, build pipeline, and lead the interview team to fill open positions.
  • Organize, train, and equip the Principal Architect (PA) team. Assess PA team go-to-market readiness, identify gaps in preparedness, and build plans to ensure the team is properly trained and equipped to perform in support of annual goals.
  • Identify development priorities and technical objections, and design strategies to deliver business value and resolve blockers.
  • Develop product architecture for roadmap solutions and communicate technology and product strategy effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage cross-functionally with product management, leadership, and engineers to develop concepts that advance the entire product pipeline.

 Requirements

  • 10 years of experience as an Enterprise Architect in a cloud computing environment, or equivalent enterprise data experience
  • Experience in cloud computing (e.g., applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms, and data)
  • Ability to connect product & tech to business plans and strategy and explain complex business or technical concepts
  • Experience with a wide variety of services architecture, API development, and container orchestration
  • Experience operating within and leading cross-functional teams
  • Humility to know when to listen and when to talk, when to push, when to lift up, and when to step back-- and a natural, innate need to advance the lives of others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field preferred
  • Experience within enterprise data privacy solutions, blockchain, cloud services, compliance management or platform development
  • Knowledgeable in front-end frameworks, data query and manipulation language tools, low-code, no-code, ETL, databases, production methodologies and product design tools
  • Experience building, architecting, designing, and implementing highly distributed global cloud-based systems
  • Experience building ML infrastructure or products with heavy ML usage
  • Deep understanding of databases
  • Track record of ideation and innovation of technology at scale and passion for development and the use of cross-platform shared code
  • Ability to make speed vs accuracy and keep vs throw-away choices
  • Experiencing designing, replicating, and modifying large numbers of experiments quickly
  • Understanding of, and familiarity with, venture-backed company and ecosystem dynamics; experience in product development within a startup using incremental engineering and prototyping a plus
