VP, Software Engineering

Our Software Development Team is seeking a VP of Engineering to lead and inspire a global team of engineers. The VP will set and achieve engineering strategy and goals by working closely with leadership and internal teams to deliver what's next for SilkRoad, ensure the maintenance and performance of our existing technology stack and software, grow the engineering team by attracting new talent, and demonstrate technical leadership.
Your contributions to SilkRoad will include:

• Providing dynamic management, leadership, and strategic vision for the engineering team.
• Devising and executing on a strategy to transition the company from an on-prem software provider to a cloud-hosted SaaS provider while maintaining functionality and support of the existing customer base.
• Managing and growing the engineering team at SilkRoad with a focus on an Agile development processes.
• Working closely with product management and the executive team to conceptualize new product directions.
• Leading software development (planning, architecture, and implementation), QA, and operations.
• Managing and Evolving architecture and technology stack to support our steadily growing partners and customers.
• Leveraging appropriate processes that ensure commitments are met and delivery is predictable, reliable, and on-time.
• Providing reports of progress on a regular basis for improvements in the team, technology and velocity.

Required Skills

• Experience with transitioning traditional on-prem applications to a cloud environment.
• Solid understanding of software engineering and code architecture fundamentals, with ability to review full-stack web application code using modern frameworks and to quickly learn unfamiliar technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to provide significant contribution towards the technology roadmap that is congruent with the long-term business strategy of the company.
• Strong organization-building background with a focus on innovation, product development, and team motivation & building.
• Demonstrated track record of recruiting, managing, motivating, and retaining a multi-site global engineering team including contractors.
• High level of executive presence demonstrated by the ability to act as the company's technical representative to potential investors, customers, and the board of the directors.
• Career path that includes significant roles at large, established and/or high-growth companies as well as start-up companies highly desirable, although priority is given to proven self-starter.
• High degree of empathy and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication.
• Proficient with computer software and MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on experience with developing cloud-native applications.
• Minimum of 5 years of direct management experience.
• Recent Director/VP of Engineering in a successful company that provides enterprise level client-facing applications.
• Experience with HCM (Human Capital Management) Software is a plus.
• Experience with a Microsoft software stack (C#, SQL Server, ASP.NET) is a plus.
