Summary
This position is located within Fort McCoy's Outdoor Recreation Program.
Incentives and Bonuses
Incentives will not be paid.
This position will have a first cut off of December 24, 2025, and applicants that submit a complete application packet prior to that date and found eligible may be given first consideration.
Duties
Performs repair work on a variety of equipment including gas powered mowers, rental units and other mechanical equipment utilized in daily operations.
Performs minor equipment repairs by cleaning, adjusting, and/or replacing defective parts or components of equipment, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems. Performs minor electric or gas welding tasks as required.
Determines requirements and orders necessary parts, tools, and other repair equipment through Maintenance Supervisor.
Keeps accurate records of all preventive and routine maintenance and repair work accomplished. Maintains parts accountability records for all repair parts.
Maintains shop area cleanliness and may be required to operate maintenance equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Conditions of employment
Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position to include a T1 investigation and physical.
A one-year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Duties may involve working both inside and outdoors.
Valid Driver's License required to operate Government Owned Vehicles.
Must be 18 years of age by appointment date to meet state requirements.
Operation is 7 days a week, schedule will be based on the needs of the activity. Subject to irregular tour of duty including, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
Qualifications
Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.
A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Knowledge of operational and repair characteristics requirements for small gasoline engine powered equipment.
Ability to use of a variety of hand tools and equipment required in small engine repair work.
Ability to read manufacturer's manuals and to determine repair parts requirements.
Ability to complete such entries as issue and turn-in dates, item names and stock or part numbers on issue, and turn-in forms.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
1 Year experience performing minor repair of small gasoline engine powered equipment.
1 Year experience working with a variety of hand tools.
Applicants meeting the qualifications for the Highly Preferred criteria may be referred FIRST to the selecting official.

PCS Costs
Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
. Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
