Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager will support the Corporate team and will plan and direct the accounting activities of the department.

Essential Role and Responsibilities

As the Accounting Manager you will be responsible for the following:

• Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls, and checks across all departments
• Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, collections, payroll, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, etc.
• Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger and financial statements including monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts
• Assists with compliance to applicable Government regulations including FAR, CAS and DCAA requirements.
• Contracts and billing - Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of all contracts. Be well versed in the specifics of the contract including, but not limited to, the allowability of expenditures and the timing of spending. Work with team to resolve billing issues with customers.
• Provide oversight of the monthly billing process to ensure that customer billings are in accordance with the terms of the contract and the Federal Acquisition Regulations.
• Actively involved in the monthly close process including revenue recognition, indirect rate calculation and review and preparation of financial statements.
• Provide oversight and review of revenue recognition on contracts
• Conducts routine follow-up on unpaid accounts receivables.
• Ensures account payable invoices are recorded in a timely manner and that payments are made according to vendor terms after approval.
• Provides oversight of the payroll process to ensure that employees and related taxes are paid accurately and timely. Ensure that all timesheets are entered in a timely and accurate manner.
• Works with the Project Controllers to ensure revenue and costs are properly recorded on contracts
• Interfaces with various government agencies including the DCAA.
• Supports the year-end audit and prepares schedules required by outside auditors and tax accountants.
• Supports the other financial audits or inquiries by DCAA or other third parties and prepares supporting schedules as needed.
• External Reporting - assist in ensuring that all outside reporting is submitted accurately and timely. Outside reporting includes but is not limited to W-2s, 1099s, and bank data calls.
• Administer accounting system to ensure the integrity of the accounting system, including but not limited to General Ledger, Contract Master File, Vendor Master File, Employee Master File, Fixed Asset Master File, Subcontractor Master File and system security.
• Special Projects - Work on special projects as workloads allow, including incurred cost submissions, rate calculation projects, proposal pricing, and others as identified.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) and 7 to 10 years of accounting experience.

Experience

• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with Federal Government regulations, contracts and billings, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles required.
• Working knowledge of FAR/CAS as well as Service Contract Act requirements
• Must possess a strong working knowledge of Government contract cost accounting systems. Knowledge of Salesforce and Financial Force accounting system is a plus.
• Ability to handle a wide range of accounting operations and willingness to perform hands-on work is essential.
• The Accounting Manager must be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision and must be able to interact with program staff and senior management.
