Assistant Technical Designer, Apparel

Tecovas is the first direct-to-consumer western brand, founded with the simple goal of making the world’s best western boots, apparel and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike. 

Tecovas is looking for an Assistant Technical Designer to support apparel development.  Reporting directly to the Senior Technical Designer, you will assist with taking apparel designs from concept to production for all apparel product categories.

This position is based out of Austin, TX but will have the ability to work from home and in-office.

What you’ll do:

• Assist the apparel team with building and updating tech packs for vendors
• Measure and review garments prior to fittings to ensure compliance with tech packs
• Attend all fittings and take detailed notes during the fit
• Assist with updating specs, construction sketches, and comments after fittings
• Create detailed technical illustrations in Adobe Illustrator
• Work with manager to learn how to review and edit digital patterns
• Assist with the review of pre-production and TOP samples
• Partner with vendors and cross-functional team from initial style creation to production
• Assist cross-functional teams with other responsibilities and projects as needed
• Work on a variety of product categories for both men’s & women’s, including denim, leather, outerwear, knits, and wovens

Experience we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in apparel/fashion design or other relevant degree
• 2+ years of technical design experience
• Basic knowledge of fabric types, garment construction, patterns, and fitting garments
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Excel
• Experience working in a pattern designer software (PDS) is a plus
