Associate Actuary, Life Experience
LOCATION
Richmond, VA or Remote
This position is available to Virginia residents as Richmond, Virginia in-office applicants or remote applicants residing in states/locations under Eastern or Central Standard Time: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington DC, Vermont, West Virginia or Wisconsin.

YOUR ROLE
As a key member of the US Life Experience and Inforce team, you will help build, maintain, and improve on experience models and analysis. You will have an excellent opportunity to join a highly motivated and inclusive team responsible for providing analytical insights and experience studies to the organization. This role will collaborate between actuarial, finance, reinsurance, risk, IT, leadership, and others.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build, peer review, and maintain experience studies and tools
- Proactively identify, manage, and implement process improvements
- Analyze experience for trends, anomalies, and assessing risk
- Produce documentation of processes, analysis, and results of reviews
- Collaborate with other departments, creating consistent messaging and improving reconciliations
- Support ad hoc requests for actuarial assistance
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related major
- 3+ years relevant actuarial experience
- Near Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA)
- Strong proficiency in a programming language such as Python, SAS, R
- Experience with data visualization software such as Spotfire or PowerBI
- Ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities in an organized manner
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Self-driven, motivated and shows ownership in tasks
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA)
- 5+ years actuarial experience
- Prior life insurance experience
- Knowledge of GAAP, Statutory and Tax financial reporting requirements for term and universal life insurance
- Experience with actuarial modeling software such as AXIS or Polysystems
