Back End Developer

Miku is looking for a motivated Back end Engineer to join a growing team operating in a challenging, fast-paced, rapidly scaling environment. The ideal candidate will be excited to contribute to building a secure, reliable, always-on system that provides the best experience for our customers. The Backend Engineer will closely collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team while effectively managing their own projects which include both backend application development as well as DevOps.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, code, deploy, administer and monitor production systems at scale on AWS and cloud platforms
• Anticipate and identify needs for upgrading and scaling of our systems to improve performance, availability and reliability
• Support other technical resources in monitoring performance and cost efficiencies of the platform, and respond as needs arise
• Implement robust, comprehensive operational monitoring systems, quickly and effectively responding as issues arise
• Recommend improvements, design alternatives and new platforms in both brown-field and green-field environments
• Collaborate with technical leads to design, integrate and test a robust, maintainable, well-documented end-to-end system

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of experience working in a multi-region, high traffic, fault tolerant, & highly available 24/7/365 environment creating continuous integration/deployment in cloud environments using logging and monitoring tools
• Experience designing and maintaining distributed and serverless systems, as well as databases.
• Strong knowledge of web architecture and protocols (REST APIs, WebSockets, HTTP, JSON etc.)
• Familiar with standard software engineering methodology, e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documentation
• Solid understanding of operational security and privacy considerations and best practices
• Proficient in Python and Javascript similar languages

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficient in AWS services - EC2, S3, IoT, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudFront, CloudWatch, ElastiCache/Redis etc.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithm design and relational databases
• 4+ years of experience managing a global production environment at scale
