We are looking for Cardiac Physiologists across the country, so whether city life, or something a bit more rural works for you, then we have these opportunities available.

About the role

Cardiac Physiologists at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora play a vital role in diagnosing and treating heart conditions. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team providing safe, timely, and effective care to patients across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Depending on your skill set and scope of practice, your work may include the following:

  • Performing ECGs and ambulatory monitoring (Holter, blood pressure)
  • Exercise treadmill testing (ETT)
  • Supporting echocardiography (transthoracic, stress, or transoesophageal)
  • Monitoring haemodynamics during cardiac catheterisation
  • Assisting with pacemaker and ICD implantation and follow-up
  • Programming and interrogating cardiac devices (including remote monitoring)
  • Supporting EP studies and ablation procedures
  • Contributing to service development, audits, and clinical mentoring

Who we’re looking for

To be considered, you’ll need to be registered in the Cardiac Scope of Practice with the Clinical Physiologists Registration Board (CPRB) and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).

You’ll also bring the following:

  • Demonstrated competence in a range of cardiac investigations
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • A collaborative mindset and high attention to detail
  • Experience in pacing, devices, or EP (desirable)
  • A commitment to cultural safety and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Overseas-trained applicants are welcome.

You’ll need an equivalent qualification (typically a Bachelor’s in Cardiac or Clinical Physiology), clinical competency, and evidence of recent practice. Our teams can support you through the CPRB registration process.

Cardiac Physiologists are on New Zealand’s Green List, meaning if you’re moving from overseas, you may be eligible for the Straight to Residence Visa.

Pay and benefits

  • Salaries range from NZD $77,000 – $117,000, depending on experience and responsibilities
  • Four weeks’ annual leave and public holidays
  • Opportunities for study leave and professional development
  • Relocation support available
  • Employment under the Allied, Public Health, Scientific and Technical MECA
