Job Description
South Bayside Industries, Inc., is currently accepting applications for Class A CDL Casual Pool Drivers (“Casuals”) at its San Carlos, CA Facility. Casuals cover positions (short-term or long-term) of its regular work force vacant due to scheduled and unscheduled time off and may be called in as early as 2:00 a.m. and are expected to report to work within one hour after notification. Casuals may work 40+ hours per week; however, hours are not guaranteed and are based solely on the Company's needs. Successful candidates will operate Class-A Commercial Vehicles with various trailers (e.g., Walking Floor, Tipper, and End-Dump) and other equipment to transport materials to disposal sites and processing facilities throughout the Bay Area.
POSITION SUMMARY: This position responsible for operating tractor-trailers and other vehicles to transport materials from the Transfer Station to disposal and/or processing site(s) as directed by the company in a safe and efficient manner.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES: The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.
• Safely operate assigned equipment in a lawful manner at all times. Monitors road and traffic conditions, and other environmental factors.
• Conduct daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the assigned equipment and accurately complete and submit a vehicle and equipment condition report.
• Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork.
• Properly don required Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
• Keep assigned equipment organized, clean and in good operating condition at all times.
• Follow disposal and/or processing facility rules and regulations.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Possess a valid Class-A Commercial Driver’s License issued by the State of California.
• Possess a valid DOT Medical Certificate.
• Minimum of three (3) consecutive years of commercial tractor-trailer driving experience.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to indoor and outdoor environments. If out in the field, they will occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the fieldwork environment is usually moderate to loud. If working indoors the employee will be working in a reasonably clean, well-lit, and ventilated office. Must be to climb ladders and scaffolding and work at heights. Extensive walking and stair climbing is required. Work in outdoor and indoor environments year-round.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk, sit, push, pull, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Heavy lifting, heavy pulling, and heavy pushing are required.

Pay: $38.12 - $54.46 per hour
