How you’ll make an impact (position summary):

Not your typical moderation team Miaplaza’s Content Moderators are integral to fostering a safe respectful and engaging online community for children. More than just reviewing posts our Moderators guide students in developing valuable social skills while ensuring our educational environment remains welcoming and supportive.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting and has a sharp eye for detail. You’re comfortable making quick thoughtful decisions while reviewing a high volume of student-generated content including text artwork and videos. You understand the importance of creating a positive space for kids to express themselves and you’re ready to step in with encouraging guidance when needed.

As a Content Moderator you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our community by monitoring student interactions addressing concerns with empathy and collaborating with your team to refine and improve moderation policies. You’ll also stay on top of pop culture trends ensuring you connect with our young audience in meaningful ways. What you’ll do (responsibilities):

• Monitor and review a high volume of student-generated content including text artwork and videos ensuring compliance with community guidelines.

• Respond to student inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

• Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help students develop respectful social skills.

• Collaborate with the moderation team and management to refine content policies and improve moderation processes.

• Stay informed about trends and pop culture to connect effectively to our young audience.

• Make quick thoughtful judgment calls to address content violations and uphold community standards.

• Participate in ongoing training sessions to enhance content moderation techniques and stay updated on best practices.

• Engage in continuous improvement efforts by sharing insights and suggestions with the team.

• Ensure a positive user experience by proactively identifying and addressing potential issues in the community.

• Track and document moderation actions accurately to maintain detailed records and support team goals.

Schedule:

Content Moderators work 4-hour shifts with the option to work 2 back-to-back shifts in one day. Moderators are required to work 2 four-hour weekend shifts totaling 8 hours per month. Miaplaza’s content moderation operates 7 days a week from 6:00 am - 10:00 pm ET (3:00 am - 7:00 pm PT). Candidates from any U.S. time zone are welcome to apply.

• Moderators begin on a part-time basis with the opportunity to transition to full-time capacity within 1 to 3 months depending on performance and experience.

You may be a good fit if you have (requirements):

• At least one year of work experience.

• Access to a computer or laptop (camera preferred) with reliable high-speed internet connection.

• Strong proficiency with technology and aptitude to learn new technologies and processes quickly.

• Ability to interact with children compassionately and patiently.

• Confidence to make decisive judgment calls on students’ posts.

• Ability to stay up-to-date with current trends to understand and relate to young audiences.

• Understanding of online safety and child protection principles.

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify subtle issues in user-generated content.

• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Growth mindset and motivated by constructive feedback.

• Proven ability to work independently manage schedules and meet deadlines.

Compensation & benefits:

The expected starting pay range is $16.91 - $23.34/hour. Miaplaza’s compensation philosophy ensures equity and competitiveness while taking into account the regional differences in living and labor costs. Specific rates will be provided during the hiring process and are aligned with market data as well as internal equity.

Miaplaza’s hiring process includes an 18-minute assessment two (or more) interviews and an assignment.
