Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
· Financial Management-Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), advanced financial and accounting concepts, financial metrics, and the ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret financial statements and related information.
· Direct and manage the accounting operations/activities to ensure the financial system is efficient and data is accurate, timely and in accordance with accounting standards and governmental regulations.
· Create and maintains internal controls and financial policies to maximize and establish process efficiency.
· Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for funders, as well as financial statements, forecast revenue, expenditures, and year-end balances.
· Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance explanations for upper management and department directors.
· Manages the annual independent audit engagement, contract monitoring and compliance reviews.
· Implement new technologies that streamline and automate the reporting, forecasting, and budgeting process.
· Manages the accounting team to achieve accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and debt payments in alignment with the department policies and procedures
· Manages the accounting staff to ensure compliance with federal, state, and county award guidelines.
· Functions successfully within Drew CDC’s employee policies and procedures.
· Attend Agency meetings and serve on work-related committees, as assigned.
· Perform effective supervision of assigned staff including conducting evaluations, supervisory meetings, staff meetings, and discipline.
· Perform other duties/special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
· Demonstrate knowledge and experience with federal, state, and local government funding.
· Comprehensive working knowledge of program planning, organizational structure, budgeting, administrative operations, and fundraising.
· Knowledge of financial models, program development, and federal and state administrative requirements and cost principles for awards.
· Expertise in working within one or more of the following service areas: early childhood education, mental health, or financial assistance programs.
· Knowledge of the economic, political, and social landscape of LA County.
· Knowledge of nonprofit management best practices, effectively delivery of quality programs and services, budgeting, building sustainable revenue streams, contract negotiation and management.
SKILL TO:
· Advance knowledge of accounting software and personal computer skills including implementation and management computerized accounting systems, word processing, spreadsheet, and payroll software.
· Demonstrate experience of managing teams in a multi-site structure to include professional development and mentorship.
· Demonstrate technical knowledge and skill in using Microsoft Office Products including but not limited to MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
· Strong organizational skills
ABILITY TO:
· Work simultaneously on multiple tasks and projects.
· Use performance-related databases, and working knowledge of information technology, both existing and emerging.
· Demonstrate effective research, organizational, problem solving and communication skills.
· Ability to be flexible, multi-task, and work in fast-paced environment.
· Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
· An associate degree with five (5) years of experience in accounting management or equivalent position.
• No less than three (3) years of experience working with complex and local governments grant funding.

Pay: $96,832.00 - $117,167.00 per year
