OVERVIEW

As a copy editor for Homes.com (a subsidiary of CoStar Group), you'll be part of a team crafting stories that give home buyers a window into the lifestyle and vibe of neighborhoods throughout the country as they shop for their new homes. Plus you're helping agents grow their business by connecting with new clients.

To succeed in this role, you'll need to be a critical thinker and a creative problem solver. In addition to semicolons and serial commas, you'll be working with our team of writers and editors to check facts and craft informative and engaging narratives about neighborhoods, parks, schools and more. Teamwork is a critical piece of our culture and a key to our success, so a collaborative and adaptable attitude is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Correct grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors.
• Fix any construction or organizational issues within the copy.
• Double check that names, places, organizations and locations are factually correct.
• Edit copy for structure, flow, style and tone.
• Ensure that content adheres to the Homes.com style guide.
• Work with the research team to address any problems found when fact-checking.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, English or communications
• 3+ years of professional copy editing experience
• Ferocious attention to detail with obsession for eliminating spelling, grammar and punctuation errors
• Prosecutorial fact-checking mindset and a curious and questioning nature.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of AP Style.
• Ability to successfully multi-task assignments through multiple stages of production
• A highly collaborative team player who is not afraid to speak up or ask questions
