Job Description
The mission of the Business Development Group is to maximize shareholder value by making strategic and vetted recommendations allowing Continental to accelerate value, high-grade our premier inventory and increase the efficiency of how we do business. We are looking for engineers that work well both individually and have successfully proved themselves in multi-disciplined teams.
Performs a wide variety of tasks; contributes to process improvements. Leads the work of small project teams; may formally train less experienced team members. Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental theories, principles and practices in the area of specialization. Identifies possible solutions for problems/issues of diverse scope using existing solutions. Works under general supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform and lead asset evaluations for A&D opportunities and present recommendations to executive management
- Work closely with Exploration & Land to identify opportunities
- Basin modeling to include both historical and future type curves, inventory and economics
- Key team member in shaping corporate strategy by providing informed analyses of energy supply understanding both current and future catalysts
- Aid portfolio optimization efforts
- Initiate and aid projects leveraging advanced data analytics
- Build and maintain databases for both asset level and regional evaluations

- Candidates should be proficient in all areas of Reservoir Engineering with foundational knowledge of operations, marketing, land and geology
- Outstanding verbal, written and presentation skills; candidate will be presenting to company executives frequently
- Proficient in Microsoft office; Excel power user a plus
- Strong team player with ability to think outside the box
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and efficiently prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Ability to proficiently utilize technical and administrative personnel resources
- Ability to work independently and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision
- Experienced with analyzing public data (IHS Enerdeq, IHS Land Studio, Oseberg
- Strong working knowledge of industry economic software (Aries preferred
- Experienced with data analytics & automating/standardizing repetitive tasks; Spotfire authoring a plus
- Familiar with spatial analyses (ESRI ArcGIS) and programming knowledge (SQL, Visual Basic, R, Python) a plus
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant industry experience to include asset evaluation, project economic valuation, and project leadership
- Willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA preferred
- A&D experience preferred
- Experience in operational rotation program or operational engineering roles a plus
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
