Freelance Creative Writer: Kids Content

PragerU is proud to announce the launch of PragerUKids. This is a newer program in our organization dedicated to bringing parents the resources, support, and edutainment to teach children about America's blessings and limitless opportunities. Our aim is to inoculate children against the indoctrination being taught in government schools today, and we will do this through a variety of edutainment content/programming, live events, newsletters, and community. We have a unique niche in providing supplemental educational material for children, all of which is non-partisan in nature.

With our exciting new launch into schools (starting with Florida!), we're looking to expand our team with a Freelance Creative Writer. We're looking for a strong and talented storyteller who can craft stories and write fun, age-appropriate, and engaging content for books, magazines, and video. This will be a freelance remote role.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of creative and content development, from initial ideation to drafting, review, and completion of content
• Write fun, age-appropriate, and engaging content for books, magazines, videos, and more
• Participate in brainstorming and planning for various content lines and projects
• Understand our target audience and tailor content to engage and captivate them
• Work on fleshing out story ideas 
• Create, write, and edit explainers, scripts, and other work as assigned
• Ensure that a pro-American, values-aligned message is being delivered with our programming consistent with our mission and vision
• Other duties as assigned

Successful Candidates Will Possess:

• Strong creative and storytelling skills
• Expert understanding of English grammar, excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• 5-7+ years of writing and/or creative space experience
• Able to use your creative writing skills to ensure that programming is:
  • Consistent with our mission
  • Aligned to pro-America, Judeo-Christian values
  • Factually accurate and inerrant
  • Written at an age-appropriate level
  • Entertaining for young audiences
• Highly motivated with the ability to work and respond quickly in a deadline-driven environment
• Able to work both solo and as part of a team
• Able to self-motivate, hold yourself accountable, and no ego (every idea doesn't get picked up)
• Understanding of trends, timely stories, and viral content
• Broad portfolio of creative work

In your cover letter, please include a section explaining how your values align with ours, and why you would want to work at PragerU specifically. Your writing sample/transcript should be no less than 750 and no more than 800 words and should showcase your creative writing skills as it may relate to our kids content either in written or video form. We have no intention of using test samples in future releases, but know that there is often overlap between topics. Thus, by submitting a sample you also release PragerU from any claims of future intellectual property ownership if you feel we release a video later in time with similar themes/concepts. We do not accept unsolicited materials.
