Game Writer (Temporary)

This position will operate on a temporary, remote basis. Pocket Gems is seeking an experienced writer to work with us on a new romance game. You'll work closely with the project’s Creative Lead and content team to pitch, outline, and write new romantic, dramatic, and comedic character interactions players can encounter. Applicants must be reliable, independently deadline-driven, and self-motivated, while also enjoying collaborating with other writers and designers to create an enjoyable story and game experience.

What You Bring to the Team:

• 2+ years as a professional game writer or screenwriter.
• Passionate about writing romance story scripts for a visual medium, ideally one that is both interactive and mobile. 
• Has joined existing story teams, successfully matching character voices, working off finished outlines, and crafting dramatic scenes and conversations.
• Effectively communicates visual notes when writing scripts - camera angles, pacing, locations, lighting, etc.
• Reliably meets deadlines, communicating regularly and effectively with the team.
• Effectively receives and implements creative feedback.
• Loves reality television, dating shows, and/or romantic interactive story apps.

Candidates interested in this role should submit two writing samples:

• A scene (5-7 pages) that reflects strong romantic and/or flirtatious interactions between 2 or more characters. This scene should be emotionally resonant, with a clear change between the characters occurring within it. Bonus points if it includes interactive choices for the reader.
• A scene (5-7 pages) that reflects strong dramatic or humorous writing set in modern day and written to appeal to a female-focused audience. This scene should include 3+ characters who face and either resolve or worsen a conflict between them in an intensely dramatic and/or comedic way. Make us gasp or laugh out loud in surprise.
