The Position
Lead Regional Category Manager
Job Summary
Imerys is hiring a Lead Regional Category Manager to be home-based.
The North America Lead Regional Category Manager for Industrial Equipment & Services (IES)/Capex is in charge of managing or approving major Capex and Opex projects for all business areas and plants in the North America region, which includes:
- Participate in the capital budgeting process with each of the three business areas in North America
- Identify long lead time components or equipment and ensure timely launch of projects
- Assist the business with the development of individual capital expense request (CER) process
- Use project management principles and formal bid process to work with the plant equipment owners to accomplish the project on-time and under budget
- Lead in commercial negotiations and supplier relationship management within the plant equipment space (ex: kiln repair project in MX - parts, service, installation, inspection)
- Collaborate with plant leadership/engineering to achieve lowest total cost of ownership through a combination of commercial and engineering levers.
- This individual will support communication and implementation of common processes, metrics and reporting across her/his area based on the Imerys Group Purchasing Policy and Capex strategy.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Identify, manage and execute individual sourcing projects in IES related areas within North America to drive down costs, optimize plant performance and support reliability-centered maintenance
- At times, lead the commercial side of major transversal projects (those which cross many sites), developing best-practice solutions, standardization, preferred suppliers and global/national/regional agreements
- Act as a pulse check and voice of the internal customer (site manager/hub director) with regards to the ongoing category management approach of the IES category
- Develop key regional supplier relationship management (SRM) program under the umbrella of global Purchasing SRM program, ensuring integration of these programs with the Business Area priorities.
Skills and Attributes Requirements
- Established expertise in major industrial Capex purchasing in North America; understands global drivers and players
- Experience in leading regional projects based on category management concepts and group purchasing approach - preferred
- Experience with engineering companies under EPC and/or EPCM contract.
- Excellent, demonstrated collaboration and relationship-building skills required; relationships will be extensive
- Ability to collaborate with strong, defined technical resources, engineers and leaders, as well as plant operations leaders, plant purchasing managers and legal teams.
- Strong equipment and service agreement negotiation skills
- Strong analytical skills - spreadsheets, software tools, etc.
Qualifications
- Successful US-based candidates must be fully Covid-19 vaccinated before the employment start date unless exempted by applicable law.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering (or related field) preferred
- Minimum 10 years' advanced experience in Capex purchasing and industrial projects with direct experience in industrial equipment / services purchasing is required
- Spanish is a plus
