Planning Manager, Carpet Making
Position summary:
The Planning Manager, Carpet Making will oversee Yarn Prep and Tufting production scheduling for fast paced, complex manufacturing environments by managing and leading a group of production schedulers and coordinators to accomplish effective scheduling for two Troup County plants.Ā The Planning Manager, Carpet Making will collaborate with various associates within multiple departments to ensure the detailed production plans are created and executed in a timely, efficient manner to meet customer requirements.
Educational requirements:
- College degree preferred (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or any Manufacturing related degree)
- In lieu of degree, 5 years Supply Chain / Management experience will be considered
- APICS certification CPIM preferred
Skills and experience:
- Demonstrated success in supply planning and inventory management
- Demonstrated success in development of the master production plan,
- 1-5 years supervising and/or trainingĀ others
- Strong overall computer skills with a preference for:
- Microsoft Office, Excel
- Oracle E1/ERP
- AS/400
- Planning & Scheduling Software
- Strong knowledge and understanding of supply chain and manufacturing processes
- Excellent organizational, analytical, collaboration, time management and mathematical skills
- Demonstrated success in strong team building skills
- Demonstrated success working well under pressure and with handling multiple tasks
- Ability to identify and prioritize requirements as needed for the Department and the Manufacturing facility
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Demonstrated success with meeting customer on time delivery goals
Essential duties:
- Collaborate with Interface management to understand direction and guide direct reports in decision making
- Provide Tufting and Yarn Prep Master Schedules that support Manufacturing efficiencies and Customer On-Time Delivery
- Oversee Yarn Assignment Process
- Analyze multiple information sources daily to understand and direct activities to coordinate machine capacities, smooth product flow, ensure on time deliveries, while maximizing efficiencies
- Use multiple spreadsheets to supplement the existing scheduling system as necessary
- Analyze and understand major peak/low order and production trends to direct the release of production schedules to maximize operational efficiency, manufacturing schedule compliance and customer on-time delivery
- Understand dynamics that affect production in order to adjust flow plan and/or staffing recommendations for order peaks, custom orders, maintenance requirements, holidays and other factors across all shifts
- Direct Scheduling and approve associateās direction to implement the detailed production plan.
- Create a work environment where direct reports can learn and grow
- Work directly with Expeditors and other planning personnel to expedite or provide alternatives for expedited orders or those requiring special attention.
- Research areas of opportunity and develop corrective action plans.
- Coordinate thorough cross training in department.
- Conduct yearly performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Utilize and promote ISO for continual improvement.
- Maintain housekeeping
- Comply with safety rules
- Comply with environmental regulations
- Be aware of departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- Perform other duties as assigned
