Principal Game Designer

Demiurge Studios is seeking an experienced highly motivated Principal Game Designer to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to maximize your extensive game design experience and proven leadership skills to conceive and shape the next great Demiurge game.

As a Principal Game Designer you will partner with product leadership to define the vision of the game and collaborate with a talented cross-functional team to build it! You can pinpoint the key characteristics necessary for a game’s success and relentlessly prioritize to make them shine. Remote work is available for this role. Relocation assistance may also be available.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with the product team to identify new market opportunities and pitch game concepts to studio leadership.

• Develop new concepts into well-defined design pillars and innovative game designs that deliver on the core player fantasy.

• Collaborate with an agile cross-functional team to prototype and iterate on game mechanics and systems that ensure a thrilling player experience.

• Play a key role in defining maintaining and communicating the creative vision of the game through all development phases by providing both high-level direction and hands-on design implementation.

• Solve creative & technical challenges that require navigating ambiguity and production constraints.

• Exemplify proven game design practices to the team and mentor designers to help them level up.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience designing & developing 3rd or first-person multiplayer action games with a deep understanding of player motivations mechanics and behaviors.

• Demonstrable experience as a principal or lead designer on at least one shipped multiplayer AAA game. Please submit a portfolio link that showcases your experience!

• Hands-on experience rapidly prototyping gameplay with a AAA game engine (preferably experience using Unreal/Blueprints).

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey designs clearly.

• Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to deliver high-quality designs on time.

• Experience mentoring other game designers.
