Senior Cost Accountant

The Senior Cost Accountant will partner with and provide financial support to Operations Leadership team members at the Kinston Distribution Center by leading capital budgeting at the DC and supporting cost center budget management. This is a hybrid role where candidates should expect to work on-site 3+ days each week. 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

​ Financial Close, Reporting, Compliance

• Develops, maintains and issues daily/weekly productivity and financial KPI scorecards
• Performs month close activities including journal entries posting
• Invoice review and analysis of accrual requirements
• Performs month-end variance analysis
• Creation of month end reports for inventory, quality and production
• Preparation of account reconciliations
• Develops monthly financial forecast for the site
• Partners with the site Leadership team to develop annual operating budgets including operating expenses, cost improvements, and capital requirements
• Files quarterly and annual reports as requested by corporate accounting, tax departments and state agencies
• Supports internal and external audits, including adequate pre and post -audit planning, communication, documentation and other auditor requests
• Identifies and actively engages in process improvement initiatives at the site as well as finance department

Capital Expenditure Request and Fixed Asset Management

• Leads financial review and provides financial documentation for capital requests
• Facilitates capital requests submission for approval
• Manages SAP internal orders, purchase orders and project spend analysis
• Manages fixed asset inventory and asset tagging in accordance with financial policy
• Oversees SAP Asset Ledger analysis for the site to ensure Balance Sheet integrity
• Manages lease accounting for the site; analyze lease commitments and ensure accurate accounting with Corporate Accounting

Leads DC purchase to payable function including:

• Manages SAP purchase orders requisitions and check requests
• Manages Onbase Issues resolution process for the site
• Performs routine cost analysis for supplies and services

Partners with the Materials Manager to Analyze Inventory Adjustments

• Develops enhanced variance and gap reporting tools and facilitates monthly meetings for the site Leadership team to collaboratively drive improvement in inventory accuracy
• Performs periodic cycle count observation to ensure compliance with documented SOX inventory controls 
• Audits inventory process controls for compliance and effectiveness

Oversight for Hourly Timekeeping Activity

• Review vouching of contract workforce invoices
• Understands facility policies and applies them to payroll analysis

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline. 
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance is required; prior experience participating in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing
• Prior experience in Accounting Systems (SAP or other ERP system) is a plus
