This job is responsible for ensuring the financial security of accounts for Ochsner patients, including functions associated with the posting of payments, adjustments, and transfers of adjudicated claims from insurance companies. The Sr job is responsible for having a greater depth and understanding of regulatory regulations and compliance while performing job duties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordination of the daily activities of the department, to include a variety of patient payments and trending errors with recommending how to prevent future errors. Additionally, this job is responsible for handing more complicated and in-depth issues and/or inquiries, is expected to be the expert for departmental processes and procedures, assist with assigned projects, and may assist in training new department staff.
Education

Required - High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred - Bachelor's degree

Work Experience

Required - 3 years' experience in customer service, healthcare, or leadership OR 1 year Ochsner experience with demonstrated success in relevant area

Preferred - Hospital and/or clinic revenue cycle experience and decision making, problem solving, analytical, and quality management skills; billing or financial experience a plus

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of insurance adjudication process.
  • Working knowledge and ability to electronically post remittances in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload.
  • Ability to successfully function in a team environment and work independently to complete job duties.

Job Duties

  • Coordinates the daily activities of all electronic payment processing operations.
  • Maintains the quality and integrity of the electronic payment processing routines.
  • Acts as a liaison with vendors to perform maintenance and updates to the applications and software.
  • Builds inter and intra departmental relationships to assist in improving process efficiency.
  • Answers questions and directs staff, acting as an expert in the department.
  • Demonstrates competency in Federal, State, and Third Party regulations.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for professional growth and maintaining required knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position.
  • Other related duties as required.
