The Opportunity

As a Senior Product Designer for the Infrastructure Platform you will be responsible for designing the next generation of tools and services that empower our internal teams. We are seeking three Senior Product Designers to shape the future of the Infrastructure Platform at Netflix. You'll craft intuitive experiences that empower our engineers and data practitioners to focus on what matters most: entertaining the world.

We have openings in two key areas:

• Senior Product Designer Developer Platform: Focus on the software development lifecycle.

• Senior Product Designer Data AI & Experimentation Platform: Focus on data discovery analytics experimentation and GenAI infrastructure tooling and experiences.

Senior Product Designer Developer Platform

You will design the end-to-end experience for Netflix software engineers. Your mission is to create intuitive intelligent tools that streamline the entire software lifecycle. You'll tackle fascinating challenges at the intersection of developer productivity user experience and technical infrastructure.

• A unified developer portal and intuitive navigation experiences

• Intelligent development workflows and AI powered automation

• System observability and troubleshooting interfaces to simplify operations

Senior Product Designer Data Platform

You will define the user experience for how Netflix practitioners discover analyze and leverage data. Your focus will be on the end-to-end journey for data engineers analytics engineering data scientists AI practitioners and other data consumers across the company from data development to visualization to A/B testing. Your work will directly impact how Netflix makes critical decisions about our content product and business.

Key design opportunities include:

• Designing intuitive interfaces for data discovery governance and quality

• Developing user-centric tools for collaborative data analysis and experimentation

What You Will Do

Design Principles

• Design intuitive interaction patterns that simplify complex workflows and unlock actionable insights.

• Craft highly functional and visually compelling experiences that enhance system comprehension and usability.

• Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and identify opportunities for improvement

• Advocate for user-centered design principles within the organization and educate stakeholders on the value of thoughtful design

• Contribute to the growth of design excellence within the team and organization

• Stay current with emerging trends in data visualization interaction design AI and analytics to continuously elevate our product experiences

Design Vision and Strategy

• Lead design strategy for product initiatives creating intuitive experiences that enhance user productivity and impact

• Define and evolve the design system creating scalable product patterns and components for the products across the infrastructure platform

• Identify opportunities for innovation through user research and technical insight

• Envision cohesive end-to-end user journeys that simplify complex workflows

• Shape how we measure and improve data experiences

Design Leadership and Execution

• Own the end-to-end design process driving solutions for complex technical workflows from concept to launch.

• Craft and validate prototypes that effectively communicate solutions

• Establish scalable design practices and foundational patterns

• Scope and negotiate realistic deliverables with partners

• Mentor fellow designers and elevate the team's craft advocating for user-centered design and educating partners on its value

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Partner deeply with Product Engineering and Data Science to translate complex user needs into intuitive and impactful design solutions

• Facilitate design workshops and creative sessions with technical stakeholders

• Articulate design vision and approach to senior leadership

• Build strong relationships and lead through influence to drive alignment and create a coherent user experience across the platform

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience and Skills

• 10+ years as a Product Designer (or equivalent experience)

• Experience designing data analytics business intelligence developer tools A/B testing tooling platforms or other technical products

• Proven track record of leading design initiatives from concept to launch

• Expert in design tools (Figma etc.) and prototyping technologies

• Strong systems thinking and ability to design scalable solutions for complex infrastructure challenges

Leadership and Collaboration

• Successfully led design strategy for complex technical products

• Proven track record of influencing and aligning cross-functional partners without direct authority

• Excellence in communicating design decisions to technical audiences

• Demonstrated success in mentoring designers and improving team practices

• Strong ability to work autonomously and drive initiatives independently

• Skill in sequencing and communicating long-term vision through incremental steps

Technical Understanding

• Experience designing interfaces that abstract complex technical concepts into intuitive user experiences

• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers (coding skills not required)

• Experience with AI/ML-enhanced user experiences is a plus

• Strong understanding of software development  or data processes toolchains and best practices

• Familiarity with infrastructure automation concepts and modern development platforms

Portfolio / Work Samples

As part of your application we are evaluating work samples that demonstrate the following:

• End-to-End Workflow: Flowcharts or other artifacts that describe the problem your process and the system you designed.

• User Problem Identification: An example that clearly identifies a real user problem and your approach to solving it.

• Visual Polish: Finished designs that showcase your attention to detail visual craft and experience working within a design system.

• Complex Interactions: At least one example of a complex interaction or microinteraction with a brief explanation of how it works.

• Team Context: Description of your role team composition and any relevant constraints (e.g. timeline resources).

• Iteration and Decision-Making: Evidence of your design process including how your work evolved exploration of multiple solutions and the trade-offs you considered.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top-of-market compensation we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family background skills and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $240000 - $520000. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans Mental Health support a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match Stock Option Program Disability Programs Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts Family-forming benefits and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation holidays and sick paid time off.
