Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our dedicated Quality team in this onsite position working at both the Germantown, NY and Rensselaer, NY sites. Internally this role will hold the title of Operations Quality Assurance Lead.

The Salary Band: $78,000 - $92,000, exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

The Role:

As the Operations Quality Assurance Lead you will work with a global team of professionals across all functional areas of the company. While the position has core responsibilities, it must also meet the ever-changing demands of a growing business. The Operations Quality Assurance Lead will perform audits, disposition non-conformances, ensuring effective containment, and perform quality processes as needed. This position will also be lead for the global corrective action system, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective actions, trending and analyzing data, and ensuring timely closure. Duties of the Operations Quality Assurance Lead include the following:

  • Facilitate continuous improvement of Taconic Biosciences quality systems.
  • Partners with all areas of the business to support implementation and understanding of quality systems.
  • Provide containment actions for customer complaints and non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that SOPs accurately reflect the processes needed to meet Taconic and animal welfare requirements.
  • Support Response Team process.
  • Tabulate, trend and report quality metrics.
  • Follow DMAIC process (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) and utilize Lean Six Sigma tools to support investigations and process improvements.
  • Provide training on quality related topics to Taconic employees.
  • Support external audits of Taconic facilities.
  • Perform internal audits of Taconic facilities and processes.
  • Manage Document Control System for Taconic facilities.
  • Facilitate change management program.
  • Support equipment calibration and validation program.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in engineering, technical, or scientific discipline required, or technical/managerial experience at an equivalent level.
  • MS in engineering, technical, or scientific discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant training and/or experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience in developing and leading projects.
  • Expertise in DMAIC, or equivalent, problem-solving tools required.
  • Experience leading and performing quality owned processes; audits, managing non-conforming material, containment, and root cause corrective action (RCCA), document management, calibration management, validation and verification management, and the like.
  • Must be adept at performing trend and data analysis, identifying priority trends, and driving effective solutions.
  • Must be adept at creating and maintaining automated status, tracking, and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel is required, generally 2 to 5 trips per year.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Primarily sedentary work in an office/home setting doing computer work; occasional visits to production sites for audits, meetings, and process walks.
