In this role you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers) where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
As an SAP ABAP Backend Developer you will design develop and maintain backend solutions within SAP environments. You will work closely with functional consultants architects and business stakeholders to deliver reliable scalable and compliant SAP enhancements and integrations.
Responsibilities

Develop optimize and maintain ABAP programs including reports interfaces conversions enhancements and forms (RICEF).

Create and maintain backend services such as OData services API integrations and RFC/BAPI developments.

Analyze functional requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.

Perform debugging troubleshooting and performance optimization of ABAP code and SQL queries.

Support SAP modules (e.g. FI/CO MM SD HR etc.) with custom developments and enhancements.

Ensure compliance with SAP best practices security standards and naming conventions.

Collaborate with functional teams to validate deliverables and support UAT and production deployments.

Participate in code reviews documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Contribute to migration or upgrade projects (e.g. ECC to S/4HANA) including CDS views AMDP and HANA-optimized ABAP.

Provide technical support during incident resolution and change management processes.

Strong knowledge of SAP NetWeaver ABAP Workbench and Eclipse-based ABAP development.

Experience with performance optimization debugging and troubleshooting ABAP programs.

Familiarity with SAP HANA CDS Views AMDP and HANA-optimized ABAP development.

Experience in agile software development methodologies (Scrum Kanban).

Exposure to global SAP projects or multi-country rollouts.

Experience mentoring junior ABAP developers or leading small development teams.

Strong business process knowledge in SAP modules relevant to the organization (e.g. Finance Supply Chain HR).
