Software Engineering Tech Lead

Kansas City, MO or Remote

Our location in Kansas City, MO currently has an opportunity for a Software Engineering Tech Lead, to be based in office or remote. The eScreen Software Engineering Tech Lead is a full-stack developer lead and coach who contributes their expertise and practice of software development to high performing eScreen Agile teams. This individual must demonstrate an aptitude for team communication and cooperation as well as contribute to enterprise level technology/architecture. Key responsibilities include innovative development solutions, design, and best practices applied to user-focused sustainable software solutions. As members of an Agile environment, individuals are also responsible for upholding and leading core principles, practices, and values, including continuous delivery, continuous improvement, self-organization, adaptive planning, value driven development, LEAN, SCRUM, and KANBAN. Core values include a growth-mindset, team-orientation, able to get along with others, and an ability to deal with ambiguity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of development methodologies, software design and design patterns, integration standards as well as its applicability at coding and testing cycles
• Demonstrate proficient knowledge of application architecture and architecture constructs as it connects to the enterprise architecture
• Identify and set software development standards and best practices
• Develop, lead, and implement technology solutions across our cross-functional teams
• Participate in and lead peer/code reviews
• Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of software engineering best practices such as: versioning and versioning control, software packaging and software release management
• Exceptional at component and unit testing of following standard practices and methodologies
• Exceptional at working problems of moderate to difficult scope where analysis of situations or data requires review of a variety of factors
• Exceptional at triage or analysis of situations for production support
• Exceptional utilizing the technologies and domain knowledge with the delivery of developed components or integrated components
• Excel with on time delivery with minimal supervision
• Collaborate closely with members of a scrum team to ensure shared responsibility among the team for the overall efforts that they have committed to.
• Top notch communication skills. Experience with distributed teams is a plus.
• Interact with users as necessary to clarify requirements and take ownership for the quality of software.
• With an agile mindset, break larger projects into smaller ones that can be delivered iteratively.
• Problem solve and make decisions; understand and analyze complex issues, anticipate risks and propose workable solutions.
• Prioritize work based on benefit and project timelines.
• Comfortable working with existing toolsets while simultaneously bringing new ideas and approaches into the team.
• Ability to explain technical ideas in non-technical ways when communicating with stakeholders
• Maintain traceability between requirements, designs, implementation, and testing
• Responsible for application development activities including design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation on assigned projects. Projects are of varied complexity and size.
• Supports other software teams such as integration engineers, database engineers, product owners, scrum masters and quality assurance teams
• Seasoned professional contributor with responsibility for an advanced area of work in the professional field
• Provides training for entry-level programmers and evaluates/recommends changes in procedures
• Mentors team members in software development best practices
• As directed, may assume technical lead role on projects and may provide technical direction to a small group of application programmers
• Minimal travel will be required for this position

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related degree, or equivalent work experience
• Background in enterprise web application programming
• MS-SQL experience
• .NET (C#), extensive, proven work with ASP.NET and MVC
• Demonstrated ability to set and meet tight deadlines and function well under pressure
• Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.
• Knowledge of cloud computing such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Azure
• Knowledge of emerging technologies such as Angular, React, Microservices, and Feature Flags
• Effective communication (verbal + written)
• Creativity and innovation

Preferred

• 8+ years of software development in a team environment
• 6+ years enterprise software development with Microsoft stack
• Team Lead experience with coordinating developers
• Experience with front end UI design and usability design
• Experience with Team Foundation Server/Azure Dev-Ops and MS-Build
• JavaScript, JQuery
• MCSD or other Microsoft certifications
