Job Description

The Multi-function RF Systems (MRFS) Group within the Systems Development Division designs, develops, and delivers low-cost, highly capable Multi-function RF systems to address the warfighter needs (Land, Sea, Air, and Space). The Multifunction RF Systems Group focuses on technology development for advanced and multi-function sensor systems, particularly in the areas of radar, cyber/electronic warfare, and threat emulators. Within this role, we perform work at full system prototypes, experiment campaigns and technology component development.

As a System Integration Laboratory (SIL) Technician, you will operate laboratory test equipment and fabricate custom testbeds and test fixtures to support a variety of program domains including RF, radar and underwater acoustics. In this role, you will integrate electrical and mechanical components and assemblies into functional prototypes. You will also run test diagnostics, perform troubleshooting, and acquire data sets for individual components and complete systems for use in system performance evaluation and characterization.

Applicants are expected to be self-motivated, detail oriented and a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program team through strong written and verbal communication skills. We are a growth-oriented organization committed to and passionate about supporting our nation’s warfighters. You will be joining a dynamic team working across multiple disciplines with opportunities to further expand your knowledge and grow your career.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Performing test diagnostics with laboratory test equipment such as vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, programmable power supplies and digital multimeters
  • Operating software-defined radios, field-programmable gate arrays, microcontrollers and other high-speed data acquisition systems to collect data sets for use in system performance evaluation and characterization
  • Working from electrical and mechanical schematics and CAD models to fabricate electronic circuits and mechanical assemblies
  • Documenting measurements and results, creating datasheets and operator manuals for individual components and prototype systems
  • Conducting electrical, mechanical, thermal, and vibration analyses of components and assemblies
  • Participating in data collections both in the laboratory and at remote indoor/outdoor locations
  • Operating shop equipment such as handheld power tools, waterjet CNCs, drill presses, table saws and 3D printers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • BS degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related technical discipline
  • Experience using laboratory test equipment such as vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, programmable power supplies and digital multimeters
  • Familiarity with electronic troubleshooting and circuit fabrication techniques, including hand soldering and microsoldering
  • IPC-J-STD-001 or similar certification
  • Basic proficiency in a high-level coding language such as Python or MATLAB
  • Literacy with basic electrical and mechanical schematics and diagrams
  • Strong desire to learn and grow new knowledge and skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Security Clearance at the Secret or Top Secret (TS) level
  • Experience operating mechanical fabrication and shop equipment, including handheld power tools, drill presses and table saws
  • Experience leading small teams, keeping requirements and schedule in mind
