POSITION OVERVIEW
As a member of the Information Technology IT Operations IT Ops/Svc Mgmt. & Architect team the Technical Writer position is responsible for generating innovative ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team by reading vendor/internal documentation, services, technology, or concepts to be documented and easily understood by a broad audience. Technical Writer will focus on creating documentation and education materials to boost user and developer experience. Documentation may come in the form of user guides, integration guides, API developer guides, in-platform instructions, installation/configuration instructions and system operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Experience working cross-departmentally to communicate the in-and-outs of a product, feature, capability, and functionality.
- Strong experience owning an end-to-end documentation creation process.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- A positive attitude, willing to jump in and tackle new challenges.
- Establish team policies and procedures, conforming to existing styles, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation.
- Define templates/formats for Policies, Standards, and Procedures (as well as an architectural artifacts).
- Gather and analyze technical and product information from various sources to document new or changing product functionality.
- Reformat, clean-up, improve, existing policies, procedures, etc. into new formats.
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking documentation work to meet product release dates and client deliverables.
- Maintain a library of application documentation, cataloging it for internal and/or external use.
- Publish and maintain templates for written documentation produced by others (technical specifications, RFP responses, etc.), ensuring a consistent "look and feel."
- Work with staff to extract from them previously undocumented policies, standards, procedures, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communication, Journalism, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Writing, Teaching, Curriculum Development or Scientific Publication or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Technical Writing.
- Expert at writing for both technical and non-technical audiences.
SKILLS
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to proactively identify opportunities for enhancement in documenting system configuration and business processes to ensure documentation is current and reliable.
- Background knowledge of technical platforms and languages such as and not limited to REST APIs, Python, JavaScript, AWS, Azure, etc.
- Experience working with the following tools preferred: Confluence/JIRA, Git, GitLab & GitHub, HTML, CSS, etc.
- Nice to have experience with the following tools: SharePoint, ServiceNow, etc.
- Experience creating infographics such as diagrams, screenshots, workflows, graphs, etc.

Various jurisdictions have passed pay transparency laws that require companies provide salary ranges for any positions for which they are accepting applications. Global Atlantic has offices in Atlanta, Batesville, Bermuda, Boston, Des Moines, Hartford, Indianapolis, and New York City. The base salary range posted below is inclusive of the lowest cost of living geography to the highest in which we have a Global Atlantic office.Â
Global Atlantic’s base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic’s total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, long-term incentives (equity), generous benefits (including immediate vesting on employee contributions to a 401(k), as well as a company match on your contributions), and sales incentives. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Compensation for our more senior positions have a larger component of short-term cash bonus and long-term incentives.Â
The base salary range for this role is
$60,000—$112,000 USD
