Tecovas is the first direct-to-consumer western brand, founded with the simple goal of making the world’s best western boots, apparel and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike.Â
Tecovas is looking for a Vice President, Technology to ensure our technology infrastructure and operations are reliable, available, scalable, and secure to align with our long-term business goals. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will support the entire company across IT systems/applications, middleware, database/data engineering, cloud storage, security and compliance and ultimately, the end-to-end customer journey. As the VP, Technology you will be an essential member of the Executive Leadership Team at Tecovas.Â
This position is ideally based out of Austin, TX but will have the ability to work from home and in-office. Remote candidates will be considered and encourage interested candidates based in the US to apply.
What you’ll do:
- Set the strategic direction and create alignment around the IT function, creating an annual plan, budget, forecasts and reporting framework that advances the entire Tecovas organization overall.Â
- Research, acquire, design, implement & maintain best-in-class IT systems, processes and capabilities to make our IT environment more efficient and effective with a lean team
- Explore ways that technology can improve and differentiate the customer experience at Tecovas and collaborate cross-functionally to bring these advancements to fruition
- Develop and uplevel current standards, policies, and processes to ensure infrastructure compliance with required regulations and best-in-class tech
- Evolve processes and structure to support systems change management, access controls, IT controls management ensuring high system availability
- Establish and maintain a structured service delivery environment and manage the overall organization, vendor relationships and technologies to achieve or exceed service levels
- Manage and evolve an existing IT team (plus 3rd party coverage), Program Management, Retail Technology (Systems), Business Systems (ERP), Data Engineering, and outsourced engineering vendors
- Partner with the Marketing team, and specifically the digital product team, to ensure E-commerce management and front-end engineering efforts are supported end-to-end
- Develop and nurture outside relationships with Business and Technology Leaders, Information Security, IT Compliance team, and third-party vendors to pull leading edge best practices into the Tecovas ecosystem
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders on major digital transformation projects, new/emerging technologies and changes in business operations
- Mentor, coach, and develop the tech team professionally, including individual’s objective setting, performance reviews, training requirements, and development plans
Experience we’re looking for:
- 15+ years progressive technology experience, managing a team and long-term technology strategy, with at least 8 years directly managing technology infrastructure and workforce in a Consumer Retail environment
- Experience supporting Retail point-of-sale and eCommerce solutions
- Deep knowledge of change management, root cause analysis, problem solving, technical project management, resolving production outages/impacts, and implementing permanent resolutions for issues

Each pair of Tecovas boots is crafted by hand in over 200 steps. It’s not the easiest or cheapest method, but we’re committed to classic construction techniques that stand the test of time.
