About the Position: The position is located in the Urology Department at Naval Medical Center, San Diego, CA., a state-of-the-art medical facility dedicated to providing comprehensive urological care. Duties
Screen patients and assist the physician with varied examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
Perform routine, moderate, and complex urodynamic diagnostic procedures independently using highly technical computerized systems.
Provide technical guidance on how to assemble and disassemble endo-urology equipment, safety requirements, and the usage of equipment in the operating room.
Perform administrative, housekeeping and stock maintenance duties.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
Required to lift up to 40 lbs., wear a respirator when required, and demonstrate manual dexterity in the regular performance of duties. Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter.
This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which include, assisting with procedures within a medical clinic, setting up an examining or operating room, and screening patients.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Patient Care, Medical Laboratory or similar fields.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
