Learn more about this agency Duties You will perform inspections to determine compliance with safety and occupational health laws and regulations. You will conduct briefings to explain the purpose and scope of inspection and pertinent safety and occupational health regulations. You will conduct special studies and investigations of hazardous situations or operational problems. You will inspect worksites, machine and equipment operations, environmental conditions, work practices, protective devices and equipment, and safety procedures. You will record and photograph apparent violations of standards for use as evidence of existing hazards. You will identify and assess hazards for their potential harm to employees and provide technical assistance to managers and supervisors. You will study records and files covering mishaps, injuries, and equipment maintenance data. You will formally instruct supervisors and employees regarding traffic safety, control techniques, proper storage of hazardous materials, arc flash protection, building evacuation procedures, emergency plans, etc. You will perform other duties as required and directed by the management team. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: . Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Managing safety or occupational health program elements. 2) Developing and recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher levels of management. 3) Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements. 4) Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards. 5) Work in occupational fields such as industrial hygienist, safety engineer, fire prevention engineer, health physicist, and occupational health nurse.
