Summary This position is located at Fort Wainwright, Alaska with MWR Youth Sports and Fitness. A $14,250 relocation incentive is available for this position. Please see Additional Information section for details. CYS Regular and FLEX employees (working a minimum of 15 hours) will receive a 100% discount on childcare for their first child and 25% for each additional child. The original closing date for this position has been extended. Referrals will be sent upon request. Duties Assist in child and youth team sports, age-appropriate fitness and health initiatives, skill-building clinics, and community outreach. Assist in managing an active program of volunteer coaches and coach certification. Assist in the planning and implementation that promotes positive growth and development of children and youth. Assist with providing program oversight and accountability for the performance of staff and safety of program participants. Ensure programs follow the National Standards for Youth Sports (NAYS). Trains and monitors coaches in accordance with National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) guidelines. Supervises volunteers as required. Assist supervisor in developing and managing budget and procurement of supplies and equipment. Collect and maintain up-to-date statistical data for planning and reports. Ensure compliance with requirements and Child and Youth Service (CYS) standards. Perform a full range of supervisory functions to staff and assist in recruitment and selection actions. Prepare reports, surveys, and briefings for the command and installation on matters pertaining to CYS. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one-year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation. Must complete a health assessment including all required immunizations. Must possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis. Must obtain/maintain certification in CPR/First Aid. Qualifications A $14,250 relocation incentive is available for this position. Please see Additional Information section for details. A qualified candidate must possess the following: A bachelor's degree or higher which included a major course of study or at least 24 semester hours in physical education, OR All of the following equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level: 1. Experience in the planning, supervision, administration, or delivery of a sports or physical education program which included a variety of individual and team sports. 2. Experience in providing skills development and teaching the techniques of various sports. 3. Experience coaching multiple sports or providing coaches with sports-specific training in coaching techniques and required skills/fundamentals. In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Recommended highly-qualifying: In addition to meeting one of the requirements above, highly qualified candidates will possess experience in the planning, evaluation, or delivery of a sports program or curriculum specifically for children or youth; or at least 12 semester hours in college coursework directly related to children or youth (i.e., PE for children, motor skills development, childhood development, early/elementary/secondary education, health/nutrition for children, child/adolescent psychology, etc.). Allowances and Differentials This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Incumbent is entitled to a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance, contingent upon eligibility.COLA is subject to change without notice. Incentives and Bonuses As an added employee incentive, the Department of Defense (DoD) granted approval to extend temporary limited commissary privileges (excluding the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products) to CYS employees. This temporary approval expires 31 December 2025. A $14,250 relocation incentive will be paid for selections made from this vacancy announcement after one year of service. Eligibility for this incentive will be applicable to current NAF employees only to accept an RFT position in a different geographic area requiring a PCS move. The relocation must be without a break in service. This relocation incentive requires a twenty-four month service agreement.
