Summary The Insect Production Worker Supervisor supervises and performs routine, repetitive assignments involved in insect mass production, packaging, storing, sterilization, and delivering of insects, and is also involved in the cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of work areas in support of the insect production program in the New World Screwworm (NWS) Dispersal Center. Duties The duties may include, but are not limited to: Plans the use of Insect Production Workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis. Observes work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems, reassigns personnel within groups as necessary and coordinates work among workers to maintain work progress and meet schedules. Supervises and assists in operations connected with the maintenance of one or multiple colonies kept at the facility at all times and operations connected with expansion into mass production. Maintains a large colony of insects for the purpose of providing eggs, larvae, and pupae for the rearing facility and cooperators, and assists in the day-to-day operations of the facility. Closely monitors the life cycle and health of insects and the environmental conditions in the larval development and pupal harvest. Oversees any quality control of NWSDF methods development testing and maintains records and data as requested. Directs, coordinates, and assists in activities in the outside cleanup area daily activities. Assists in the installation of improvements to, and repair and maintenance of, facility and equipment. Lifting may occasionally exceed fifty (50) pounds. Must have the ability to lift, push, and pull wheeled rearing racks and equipment and endure high/low temperatures and humidity for time intervals of two to three (2-3) hours. Protective clothing and/or eye protection is mandatory for some tasks. Qualifications To qualify, you must show you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
