Summary This position is located in the Unaccompanied Housing Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Custodial Worker, responsible for cleaning duties within UH facilities. Learn more about this agency Duties Performs one or more of the following duties: Scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors using heavy (industrial-type) powered scrubbers and buffers. Vacuum cleans rugs, using heavy (industrial-type) vacuum cleaner. Adjusts, cleans, and oils these machines, and changes brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments on them. Washes and replaces venetian blinds, changes light bulbs and washes ceiling fixtures and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds. Moves heavy furniture, supplies and equipment. In living quarters, makes beds, changes linen and collects soiled linen. Keeps restrooms in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes lavatories, urinals and toilet bowls. Cleans mirrors, sinks and water fountains. Dusts ledges and wood work. Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap. Maintains a stock of cleaning materials and equipment and notifies supervisor when more is needed. Performs other related duties as required. Requirements Conditions of employment Must pass all applicable records and background check. Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment. Must be able to lift and move objects weighing approx. 40 lbs. and occasionally objects weighing over 50 lbs. Qualifications Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs. Must have custodial/janitorial experience. Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs, follow simple oral and written instructions. Ability to work safely while moving lightweight objects. Ability to use powered equipment and perform minor maintenance on this equipment. Ability to learn Material Safety Data sheets. Education N/A Additional information Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Executive Order 12564 requires a Federal workplace free of illegal drugs.
