Summary This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Communications, Creative Services Group. As a Visual Information Specialist, GS-1084-13, you will serve as the focal point for the development and coordination of internal and external agency communications. Learn more about this agency Duties Lead planning, development, and production of electronic, print, and corporate communication products aligned to CMS communication goals. Assess target audiences and client needs, recommend visual media, and produce or direct production of communication products. Review communication materials to ensure the desired effect on intended audiences and develop new approaches to improve results. Monitor art and design quality for national, regional, and central office materials to ensure consistent CMS identity and adherence to guidelines. Ensure visual products meet federal digital accessibility requirements and are optimized for web, mobile, and social media platforms. Develop, maintain, and enforce agency-wide visual identity and branding standards, including style guides and design templates. In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1. Overseeing visual communication projects that translate policy information into products compliant with accessibility standards such as Section 508; 2. Designing public-facing materials such as brochures, forms, info graphics, reports, or digital content for a government agency or large public-sector organization; AND 3. Providing guidance and recommendations to stakeholders or customers on visual communication approaches, products, and services.. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
