Summary About the Position: Serves as the Lead Medical Records Technician providing day-to-day technical direction and workflow coordination for Medical Record Technicians and Registration Technicians, ensuring accurate management of medical records. Located in the Patient Administration Division of Guthrie Army Health Clinic. Salary negotiation MAY be available to those new to Federal service. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Learn more about this agency Duties Develop and adjust weekly rotating staff schedules to maintain even workflow. Monitor work in progress through spot checks and review to ensure compliance with established procedures, methods, and deadlines. Provide on-the-job training, answer task-specific questions, and ensure staff remain current on policies, procedures, and directives. Serve as a subject-matter expert on medical records management and provide detailed guidance to clinical staff on complex medical record and Privacy Act requirements. Conduct quality assurance reviews on scanned medical documentation to verify legibility, correct naming conventions, and proper placement within the Electronic Health Record. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position is required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education/and or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining patient medical records for accuracy; retrieving medical records as requested; utilizing office automation systems to prepare reports; conducting quality checks ensuring records are accurate; and monitoring staff scheduled and workloads. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
