Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Athletics Facility at the Naval Weapons Station, Goose Creek, SC. Regular Full-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 35 to 40 hours per week. Provides training in all aspects of exercise physiology to include stretching, use of fitness equipment, strength training, cardio-vascular conditioning and safety. Instructs individuals and groups in the proper implementation and maintenance of conditioning and training programs for aerobic fitness, muscular fitness, body composition and flexibility training. Works with various command/ unit representatives in planning, developing, organizing, promoting, coordinating, executing, evaluating, and supervising a comprehensive and total fitness program for active-duty military. Conducts NOFFS, Mission Nutrition, and CFL Instructor courses for Navy Sailors. Assists Command Fitness Leader with physical readiness tests and body fat measurements. Oversees exercise prescriptions on a regular basis for personnel who fail to attain satisfactory standards on Physical Fitness Assessments. Plans and establishes, and instructs aquatic certification curriculum to include lifeguarding, lifeguard instructor, water safety instructor, water fitness instructor, and other safety, fitness and recreational certification and educational programming. Supervises aquatic programs and staff for a seasonal 25m by 50 m outdoor pool with numerous attractions. Performs the full range of supervisory duties for fitness and seasonal aquatic staff. Plans the APF and NAF budget for the assigned facilities and fitness and aquatic programs. Prepares and submits justifications relating to programs and activities including APF/NAF funding, personnel. facilities, supplies and equipment. Identifies replacement schedule IAW 5-year plan. Designs program objectives from the standpoint of participant response and resources; adapts and varies the fitness and aquatic programs in light of findings. Coordinates with the marketing department to publicize events and advises patrons of available programs; responds to concerns. Procures, issues, and insures maintenance of all equipment and proper storage of all chemicals. Conducts inventories and utilizes appropriate purchasing procedures to acquire new equipment and supplies. Prepares and maintains administrative paperwork. Manages and conducts day-to-day operations of four non-geographically co-located fitness centers. Ensures staff and patrons comply with safety, fire, and security regulations. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Four-year college/university degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology or related field or experience in a health related field. Prefer master's degree or higher in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or Exercise Physiology. Fitness Training certification from ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), Cooper Institute, CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist), ACE (American Council on Exercise), or similar. Aquatic certifications: Lifeguard, WSI (Water Safety Instructor). CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED (infant, child. and adult), Blood Born Pathogens, Oxygen Administration, Waterfront Lifeguard, and CPO (Certified Pool Operator). Prefer LGI (Lifeguard Instructor), and WSl (Water Safety Instructor). Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a background check, either a NACI or a CNACI. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
