Summary About the Position: This position is located in Honolulu, HI at Tripler Army Medical Center in the Department of Behavioral Health. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Duties Performs biopsychosocial evaluations, mental health diagnoses, and provides brief, problem-focused interventions (e.g., CBT). Provide evidence-based treatment, including behavioral, cognitive and motivational approaches. Acts as the primary authority on psychology within the clinic, advising Primary Care Managers (PCMs) and other medical staff on treatment plans and referral sources. Maintain accurate and compliant documentation of patient care in accordance with federal, DoD, DHA, and hospital regulations. Document information in the electronic health record during patient encounters. Provides expertise on human behavior to optimize health outcomes and serves as a consultant for high-risk factors like suicide and trauma history. Focuses on "warm handoffs" immediate transitions from primary care to behavioral health) and "scrubbing" appointment lists to increase clinical productivity. Monitors objective behavioral outcome measures and reviews statistical data to modify program goals. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time. This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. This position requires a valid unrestricted state license as a doctoral level Psychologist. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist: Degree: Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service which includes performing behavioral health assessments and/or psychological testing, developing behavioral health treatment plans and/or recommendations, and providing treatment to behavioral health patients. License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
