Learn more about this agency Duties This position is located in the National Employee Wellness Branch of the Human Resource Management Division (HRMD) located in Washington, D.C.Oversees research and development of employee wellness (EW) initiatives in the Bureau of Prisons (BOP).Provides system-wide direction in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the BOP's comprehensive employee psychological health and wellness efforts.Operates as a technical expert on employee suicide prevention and BOP culture and develops programs to promote employee resilience, improving the overall well-being of the BOP workforce. Qualifications To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Basic Requirements: Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major or equivalent in psychology.AND In addition to meeting the above Basic Requirements, applicant must have: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Some examples of the qualifying experience are: Experience as an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist developing training programs for employee wellness initiatives (e.g., stress management, resilience, decision-making under pressure, etc.). Experience as an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist implementing leadership development initiatives for supervisory employees. Experience as an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist developing effectiveness training for law enforcement employees. Experience as an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist advising on organizational culture initiatives within an agency/organization. Experience as an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist providing consultation agency/organization recruitment, retention, and workforce planning. Applicant must hold a master's degree or doctoral degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from an accredited program. Additional information Special Conditions of Employment Section: The incumbent is subject to geographic relocation to meet the needs of the agency. Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a pre-employment and panel interview, urinalysis, physical, and background investigation. All applicants are subject to, and must satisfactorily pass all screening requirements in relation to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit check. Additional selections may be made if vacancies occur within the life of the certificate. Current Federal Law Enforcement Employees: A prerequisite of the secondary law enforcement position is the completion of the mandatory courses in "Introduction to Correctional Techniques Phase I and Phase II".  If you have not completed the mandatory courses in "Introduction to Correctional Techniques Phase I and Phase II", you are ineligible for secondary law enforcement position(s) and coverage but may still be considered for a non-law enforcement position. If you are not a current Bureau of Prisons employee, you must submit training records demonstrating you have completed the mandatory courses in "Introduction to Correctional Techniques Phase I and Phase II" to your hiring Human Resource office prior to appointment.  Individuals selected who are under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) or Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) and who have not had three years "primary" law enforcement retirement coverage, will not be covered by law enforcement retirement while in this position. To regain coverage, individuals must return to a position with "primary" coverage.
