Plan and organize all practices and administrative procedures for medical facility. Identify employee developmental needs and provides or arranges for training Evaluate reports by analyzing facts and performing appropriate research and preparing detailed responses Conduct comprehensive analysis of medical documentation for the purpose of obtaining medical waivers for aviators or other special operational duty personnel. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations. Position may require a one-year probationary period. Pre-employment physical annually and thereafter is required. Lifting up to 20 pounds may be required. Up to 5% Business Travel required. Overtime may be required. Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirement for Health System Specialist, GS-0671-09: Specialized Experience: One year of demonstrated experience which includes providing medical standards guidance and policy interpretation to health care professionals; conducting comprehensive analysis of medical documentation; facilitating the aeromedical waiver process in coordination with medical providers; and utilizing office automation software to produce correspondence and/or reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
