Research Health Science Specialist

The Research Health Science Specialist will work under the supervision of a principal investigator on one or more research projects. This position requires a highly specialized mix of skills in computational biology, genetic epidemiology, and clinical expertise. A summary of the main duties is as follows: Major Duties: Performs advanced statistical analyses and creates visualizations throughout all research stages. Designs and performs complex studies including GenomeWide Association Studies (GWAS) and Phenome-Wide Association Studies (PheWAS) Translates statistical signals into human health outcomes. Interprets clinical relevance of identified genetic mutations. Maps variants to biological pathways and ensures conditions extracted from VA electronica health records make biological sense. Specialized Experience: You must have specialized experience in performing tasks associated with Research studies. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: designing and conducting complex research studies; performing advanced statistical analyses; determining clinical relevance of findings and translating statistical signals into human health outcomes.
