Summary
About the Position:
Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports and recreation activities.
Duties
Develop a systematic work plan for repairs throughout the facility.
Develop detailed job plans, including equipment cost for the projected work.
Prepare, track, and manage all rental/leased and maintenance service contracts.
Determine extent of repair and/or modification to determine if replacement or disposals are practical alternatives.
Evaluate and interpret approved drawings, blueprints, sketches, construction, maintenance, alterations, and repair activities.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period.
May be required to travel (TDY) 5% of the time for business purposes.
THIS IS A TERM POSITION NOT TO EXCEED 2 YEARS. THIS APPOINTMENT MAY BE EXTENDED IN INCREMENTS OF 2 YEARS TO A MAXIMUM OF 8 YEARS. EXTENSIONS ARE NOT GUARANTEED AND ARE CONTINGENT UPON BUDGET AND WORKLOAD.
Qualifications
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Category rating, veteran's preference, and traditional rating and ranking of applicants do NOT apply for this vacancy.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-09 GRADE LEVEL
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting in performing cost estimates for the installation, maintenance and/or repair of facility equipment; 2) Assisting in preparing purchase descriptions for recordkeeping; OR 3) Assisting in tracking requests for equipment turn-in. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07)
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Engineering, Industrial Arts, Property Management, or Business Administration. (Note: You MUST attach a copy of your validated OFFICIAL or UNOFFCIAL TRANSCRIPTS.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You MUST attach a copy of your validated OFFICIAL or UNOFFCIAL TRANSCRIPTS.)
GS-11 Grade Level
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing cost estimates for the installation, maintenance and/or repair of facility equipment; 2) Preparing purchase descriptions for recordkeeping; 3) Implementing of equipment replacement plans: OR 4)Tracking requests for equipment turn-in. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Engineering, Industrial Arts, Property Management, or Business Administration. (Note: You MUST attach a copy of your validated OFFICIAL or UNOFFCIAL TRANSCRIPTS.)
OR
Combination: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Additional information
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
