What You'll Be Doing: Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the accuracy and timely delivery of financial information for your assigned portfolio:
- Financial Reporting & Close: Lead the end-to-end monthly close process, preparing journal entries, complex account reconciliations, and financial statements in accordance with company policy.
- Operational Partnership: Act as the primary financial consultant to property General Managers, conducting monthly reviews of hotel/property results, advising on accounts, and collaborating to resolve performance issues. Assisting in the preparation and review of annual budget
- Cash Management & Controls: Oversee and reconcile daily cash, credit card deposits, and bank activity. Proactively monitor internal controls and alert management to cash shortages or significant policy deviations.
- Audit & Compliance: Prepare comprehensive working paper files to support external audits and ensure strict compliance with established internal controls, statutory filing, and tax requirements.
- Fixed Assets: Maintain accurate fixed asset schedules and capital expenditure tracking.
- Process Improvement: Continuously review and strengthen accounting/cash control procedures at the property level to ensure efficiency and ethical practices.
What You Bring: Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality (hotel) or real estate industries.
- Education & Certification: University Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Finance. An Accounting designation (CPA) is considered a significant asset.
- Systems Proficiency: Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and proficiency in Word. Prior knowledge of hotel accounting systems (PMS) and/or Sage 300 is a definite advantage.
- Analytical Focus: Strong analytical ability, coupled with exceptional organizational and time management skills needed to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication, and strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with hotel management and corporate staff.
- Adaptability: Capacity and willingness to quickly learn and master new financial systems.
