About the opportunity
Ontra is seeking a results-driven individual to join our Finance team as an Accounting Manager. In this role, you'll play a crucial role in leading an efficient monthly close process, ensuring the accuracy of GAAP-compliant financial statements, and collaborating with other departments to drive business success. You'll have the chance to develop and mentor a high-performing team of accounting professionals while continuously improving our financial operations.

What you’ll do
- Lead an effective and efficient monthly close process, inclusive of reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, financial reporting, and period over period fluctuation analysisÂ
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of GAAP-compliant financial statements and associated reports
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure we operate within budget and understand trends and fluctuations in the financial statements
- Manage the day-to-day accounting function
- Develop proper controls and document procedures and policies within workpapers and memos
- Improve our current software stack to increase efficiency, automation, and insights
- Become an in-house expert and go-to person both within the Finance & Accounting team and throughout the organization for financial operations and reporting requests
- Manage a team of high-performing accounting professionals while ensuring the team is operating effectively and direct reports are fulfilled, challenged, contributing, and continuously learning
What you’ll bring
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting
- Technical Skills: Expertise in accounting and a technical accounting knowledge (i.e. ASC 606 in regard to SaaS products, ASC 340, ASC 718, ASC 350); power user of Excel; an active CPA license is required
- Communication: Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate well with the team
- Proactive: Highly motivated, takes ownership of ongoing duties and projects, identifies problems and solutions on his/her own
- Intelligence: A deep thinker who is creative, ambitious, and consistently makes incremental improvements
- Management/Teamwork: A manager and leader, functioning as a representative of the department across the company to senior leadership, and demonstrating an ability to understand the big picture; while also being proficient with “in-the-weeds” detailed hands-on work
- Ability to hire and develop A players: Able and willing to be a “player/coach” - significant role as an individual contributor while also needing to attract, retain, and develop talent

Ontra publishes salary ranges on our salary board here: http://bit.ly/3UjAOE3, which currently includes estimated annual cash salary ranges for candidates based in Colorado and New York City, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Ontra leverages current market data to determine compensation, so posted figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
Ontra factors in your location when benchmarking compensation for most roles. If you are not located in Colorado or New York City and have been selected to participate in our interview process, we encourage you to speak with your recruiter about compensation for the role during an initial conversation.
In addition to cash salary, the total compensation package Ontra offers includes unit-based compensation (if applicable). Certain roles in our sales and account management departments may also be eligible to receive variable compensation or commission.
